In fact, perhaps if he'd not been playing with space cowboys the final seasons of his two previous shows might not have sucked so much at times (though I'll forgive the Angel peeps much for puppet!Angel and uberhot!Wes). ;)

Yeah, I was kind of wondering if that was the reason Marti got free reign in Season 6. I liked the first few episodes -- Tabula Rasa is pretty much the cut-off point, but the only thing that saves the last half of it for me is Spike getting his soul back.
I mean, wanting to do something a bit darker with no major villains is one thing, but turning your heroine into an abusive, manipulative bitch who acts worse than most of the villains she's vanquished in the past is something else entirely!
Season 5 of Angel is all I own and the only seaon I've seen all episodes of (gee, wonder why? ;) and I really like it for the most part, but from what little I've seen of season 4, I'm amazed they managed to HAVE a season 5 in the first place!
