You know, I'm living in hope that at some point in the near future people on my friends list are going to stop banging on about Firefly... I mean, I already have to tolerate the Atlantis blather but puh-lease! *sigh*

Won't happen in the *near* future, not with the movie coming out Friday. *snicker*

Better stock up on sporks for the next week or two, then. ;)

(or you could create a S2 style that searches entry text for "Firefly", and hides any entry that matches. Though that's rather complicated and a little extreme.)

Well, thank you Joss Whedon for ensuring I don't miss the internet anything like as much as usual when I'm away at the con this weekend... ;)

And I'm giving your other suggestion serious consideration! Trust me, it may not be an extreme reaction... alternatively, us Firefly-haters will have to just be over in our little ghetto.

I share your pain. Never seen it, and as I don't watch TV the only place I'm likely to see it is if someone lends me the DVDs, and (from experience) even if they do that it'll take me 2 months to get around to watching it and then I won't like it.

Sigh.

*makes note to create friends sub-group minus Grac for imminent Firefly squeeing*

I can promise, however, that my lj will be free of Atlantis squeeing from now and until... probably forever since they'd have to change at least half the cast to be even semi-watchable.

Sorry, Firefly-devotee here, and I'm loving it.

But I can sympathise - I've absolutely no interest in Harry Potter or Veronica Mars...

Won't squee about Firefly because I'm not sure when we'll get it here, but guilty of Atlantis blather...

Somehow, it happened. *blushes*

I didn't see it when it was first on tv, but I'm catching it on the reruns on SCIFI now.

Uh....

I'll go hide the sporks.

Maybe the kitchen knives too.

I like Firefly, I really do, but I don't think I'll ever blather about it. An odd comment every once in a while. But the movie really IS good. ;)

And SGA - blah. More like Rodney McKay - blah. ;)

I was going to 'me too' your post but then I realised that someone actually did lend me the DVDs and I (a) didn't watch them in the mayhem before moving, (b) packed them and brought them with me, and (c) haven't sorted them out from the general mish-mash that is the DVD/video bookcase. (Diskcase. Videocase. Whatever.)

And he-who-gave-it-to-me swears it's fabulous and is worth watching, so I probably will. In a mad panic on the night before he comes to visit and I feel obliged to return it.

It all started with aversion therapy at a con in New Jersey, where the same episode (well, it looked like the same one) was played over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over in the con suite... All weekend.

LOL Couldn't pay me to watch anything Wright and co. come up with after the way they f'd up SG1 -- I'll ride it out, but that's it. As for FF, I don't subscribe to the 'Whedon is a genius and therefore anything he makes must be watched' theory. Probably helps that I'm coming in after all his series went off the air, but Spike's the only reason I watch the other two, so really no incentive for me to give a fig about that one in the first place, then all the hype just made it irritating.

Jonas started my 'resist the new shiny' thing but the tptb-created hype around SG:A didn't hurt it any.

As for Joss, he's a fanboy with some good ideas but needs people to rein him in and remind him he's not quite as much of a genius as some of his fans tell him he is. In fact, perhaps if he'd not been playing with space cowboys the final seasons of his two previous shows might not have sucked so much at times (though I'll forgive the Angel peeps much for puppet!Angel and uberhot!Wes). ;)

Oh yah. Especially since the hype around both of them sounded remarkably similar and barf-worthy.

In fact, perhaps if he'd not been playing with space cowboys the final seasons of his two previous shows might not have sucked so much at times.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering if that was the reason Marti got free reign in Season 6. I liked the first few episodes -- Tabula Rasa is pretty much the cut-off point, but the only thing that saves the last half of it for me is Spike getting his soul back.

I mean, wanting to do something a bit darker with no major villains is one thing, but turning your heroine into an abusive, manipulative bitch who acts worse than most of the villains she's vanquished in the past is something else entirely!

Season 5 of Angel is all I own and the only seaon I've seen all episodes of (gee, wonder why? ;) and I really like it for the most part, but from what little I've seen of season 4, I'm amazed they managed to HAVE a season 5 in the first place!

IIRC, Joss got involved again for season 5 but by then the rot had set in too much. Still, the whole Buffy mess definitely shows he should concentrate on one thing at a time...

I guess I just don't like being told what to think and there's been a little too much of that going on around certain things...

Nope, because it would mean certain people would actually have to put some thought and effort into what they're writing... How unfair is that?
