Someone over on Our Stargate has now set up a blog that I'm sure people on my friends list will be interested in:

The Hathor Legacy is a blog about how women characters are represented on tv and in the movies. It started out life as a result of a discussion thread on OS - the blog's author is looking for comments on what she's got so far and also for authors who'll write about shows they know and the women characters in them.

[edited to add a link to the original forum thread, which also makes interesting reading - you don't have to be a member to visit...]

Hah, I should send her a copy of my dissertation. Or not. No one should be subjected to that thing.

That might be restricted behaviour under the terms of the Geneva Convention, but you may well have things to say she'd be interested in hearing! :P

I'll have to check out the blog tonight when I get home from work, see if it's something that might be of interest to her, Geneva Convention or no. Sometimes you just have to stand up for your right to torture people with bad writing.

Did you change your format on your LJ?

On topic -- I went to the blog last night, and it was interesting reading. BetaCandy is articulate, and I like the way she thinks - though I have to agree with Blarney (a respondent on the blog) that her description of Emma Peel goes more with Tara King on the Avengers.

I did, is it doing bad things?

And I never really saw much of The Avengers, so I can't comment on that...

Oh, the new format is fine -- nothing wrong with it. (the formats are fun to change around).

It's been a long time since I have seen the Avengers. But it sticks in the mind.
