Funny how now Hero has made a gazillion dollars for Miramax in the US despite them having sat on it for 2 years - 2 years! Despite winning the best Foreign Film Oscar! - suddenly it's back on general release in the UK.

Have to say, having had a Hong Kong dvd of this for a while now and dribbled over it incoherently, *glares at blktauna in anticipation of sheep noises*, I can't wait to see it on a big screen. September 24th. :)

Saw it on Saturday and it was wonderful. I will never understand Miramax. At all. They sit on the most wonderful movies for ever and ever.

And no, Miramax's decisions beggar belief. Apparently they didn't want to release it too close to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in case that one movie had destroyed any interest in the general public in martial arts movies. Or some such idiocy. Jeez.

Scarily, my local theater had a big sign at their ticket counter saying that refunds would not be issued due to subtitling. When I asked the ticket agent about the sign, she had a large number of people had walked out of the previous showing demanding a refund because of the subtitles. Heaven for fend people are exposed to culture. :-P
