Everytime I think MGM/Bridge et al can't get much smarter, they go and prove me wrong!

Their latest brainwave? Well, there's a little thing called Gatecon, it's a convention based in Vancouver that's for the past 3 years had a good deal of involvement and support from the people who make the show. That means, among other things, set tours that raise money for charity.

So, imagine the surprise of people who're heading out to Gatecon this year to discover that some bright spark has decided that there will be no set tours this year. Apparently now they've struck some kind of deal with Creation to do 'official' SG cons, tptb have no intention of giving anything to Gatecon, regardless of the fact that it's for charity and that Creation don't hold a con that weekend (or any time in Vancouver, to date).

Thanks, guys, for proving us utterly and uncategorically correct in our assessment of your PR skills.

They have PR skills? I thought their PR strategy was developed by the 1000 monkeys on typewriters...

Those guys? I think they throw a dictionary down the stairs and see how it lands; they'd begrudge paying monkeys.

This whole thing fits with the way they've been dealing with the show for the last years. When you have morons in charge, things happen.

And they've managed to piss everybody in the Stargate fandom, gotta give them some credit for that.

Yep, it takes real talent to upset the entire fanbase, pretty much in one go. ;)
