Goddamnit, why is plot so hard? Why won't the bloody characters cooperate?

Why do I have to keep biting back the 'your fic would be readable better if it wasn't one long unpunctuated spew of words that don't differentiate between speech and action?' since clearly the 'writer' has never actually read anything ever if they don't realise this without a slap round the head?

I'm always ready to help out a cousin by bending an ear... or two. Illya can be stubborn at times - if the crack over the head didn't help, I found that he's particularly receptive to food rewards (it's incredible what he will do for a chocolate chip mac nut cookie...).

Considering this is an AU set in 1930's London, I'm not sure cookies are going to be an option... maybe some nice fruitcake will seal the deal. ;)
