Found something very interesting yesterday - [livejournal.com profile] gingerminx... Oh lord, I knew I wasn't alone! :)

And in case you need more persuading that there was a viable slash pairing in Dr Who long before Captain Jack Harkness, then have a look here.

That's the great thing about fandom - no matter how fucked up your brain is, there's always going to be at least one other person out there who thinks the same way you do! Woo hoo! :)

Saw your post, hit the link, whilst crossing my fingers that it was Five/Turlough. Yessss! I'm not the only sad mad bastard around.

I'm afraid Turlough is another example of before-I-knew-what-it-was... something about him and the Doctor, just didn't have a label for it. ;)

Me too.

I adored Turlough, in a wow-he's-evil-but-strangely-hot kinda way from the moment he turned up. And Planet of Fire was the only story I taped and kept from the days when videotape was freaking expensive. But although I had an inkling of what slash was at the time--I was a teen into Star Trek and had heard the term bandied around, in a "isn't that sick" sort of tone--it would be years before I realized that *I* was a slasher and further realized why Five and Turlough had so got under my skin.

Helped, I think, by the age I was when Turlough arrived and that I didn't like any of the other companions (and little did I know things were destined to get worse in that regard, but that's another story...).

The getting tied up and/or smacked around didn't hurt either. ;)

Tied up and smacked around definitely doesn't hurt. ;)

I may just have to join some Who comms. Like I have time to read/write/vid another fandom.

OOH!

I loved Turlough, was one of my all time fave companions! That school uniform certainly clung in all the right places!

What's not to love about semi-evil ginger not-so-jailbait? ;)

Not that he had much competition in terms of being a companion and it was only going to get worse when Bonnie Langford got on there... *shudders*

Ohh maaaaan! Back in the day... I had a big teenage crush on Turlough - not helped by the fact that Mark Strickspn went to school with my best friend's brother in Stratford.

Fast forward a few years, and I found Turlough / Five slash online, and went to find the author - [livejournal.com profile] viridian5! - and she turned out to be (a) insanely nice and (b) had this funny thing called a livejournal, just like her own webpage only easier, and she gave me an invite code (those being the days when you needed one)...

Been downhill ever since. I blame Turlough for everything, including the fact that I've just been futzing about in links all over the place trying to find myself a nice picture: decided I need a ginger icon! Couldn't find what I wanted, bleh.

I think [livejournal.com profile] viridian5 was the first Five/Turlough I discovered as well, though I think I was looking for Once a Thief (mmm, Nick Lea!) and stumbled across it by accident...

But I think it's unfair to blame everything on Turlough - are you trying to say you were pure and unsullied until 1983? I find that very hard to believe! ;)

5 was always my favorite Doctor, and Turlough was, I think, half the reason. Loved the links, and thanks for the excuse to add a couple of new comms to my flist ;)

I should be getting commission from [livejournal.com profile] gingerminx, since I just added two people to their membership.

And you're most welcome. :)

AHAHAHAHa I was waiting for someone to come up with that!

I'm still a #2/Jaime gal. (MMMM Frazier Hines)

And I'll have you know Mark Strickson is even cuter in person!

And here I thought my bizarrely inexplicable Turlough love was my own dirty little secret. But there are others? I guess I'm not as perverse as I think I am.
