I adored Turlough, in a wow-he's-evil-but-strangely-hot kinda way from the moment he turned up. And Planet of Fire was the only story I taped and kept from the days when videotape was freaking expensive. But although I had an inkling of what slash was at the time--I was a teen into Star Trek and had heard the term bandied around, in a "isn't that sick" sort of tone--it would be years before I realized that *I* was a slasher and further realized why Five and Turlough had so got under my skin.
