As we approach the payday lottery once more, I thought I'd run a little sweepstake... ;)

Heh, in my experience with payroll, both working at it and on the receiving end of it, once something is out of the ordinary it goes wrong. Finishing a job and starting one both come in that category *g*.

Come, on this is the public sector. You have defied Big Brother with your anarchic job change and must be PUNISHED.

Hey, I hear ferret food is full of delicious protein! You won't starve, at least.

I said both, but if this were the U.S. you would be paid monthly, with a bit of a lag, so you would be paid by your old employer this month and your new employer next month.

The lag is worse if you're hourly rather than salary. It took me 60 days to get paid once. Gah!

I fear I voted for the pessimistic option (because, well, government, and they've only had a few weeks to not straighten it out yet), but I hope it'll turn out that you actually DO get paid ;).
