As we approach the payday lottery once more, I thought I'd run a little sweepstake... ;)

Well, I changed jobs in July. Neither of my employers were on the ball enough to ensure I got paid correctly that month and I don't hold out much hope for August either.

I keep expecting the 'you owe us money because we buggered it up!' letter from my old employer (who paid me for all of July when I only worked one week of it) but the fact I haven't had that yet leads me to suspect this state of confusion may continue... ;)

LOL! I've made a few "OMG I've f**ked up your wages, please send me the cheque back now" phone calls in my time *g*. Fortunately they were all usually very amenable and helpful, far more so than I think I would have been, LOL.

Was it a large company you worked for previously? Sometimes these things never get found out, but then you're always waiting for that call or that letter demanding the money back. A bit like the Inland Revenue and their stupid, stupid new tax credit thing, which despite me telling them repeatedly on the phone was wrong they kept paying me. One even told me to have a nice christmas with the money! Then came the letter asking me to send them a cheque for £2000 pounds. Needless to say they didn't get it, but now I get no tax credits at all until they have recovered their money. Useless gits.

I work for local government. 'Nuff said, eh? ;)

I had to phone my previous employers' payroll section and ask them where my last payslip went, since they'd paid me but they knew I wasn't working at the office I usually got my payslip sent to any more (and if you can figure out that logic, you're doing better than me), only to discover they'd sent it to the address I lived at 5 years ago despite me telling them at least three times I didn't live there any more. So, they know I owe them money, alas...

Ah, local. Well, then, all bets are off. ;)

My comments are based on U.S. state government, which is consistently slow and grindy and drowning under the weight of its red tape.

I had to sign an oath promising to faithfully execute the office of student assistant, so help me God, once.

Local government, state government, I doubt there's much in it. Hence the sweepstake... ;)
