It's just me, then?
Aug. 7th, 2005 10:44 amI have an ever-expanding set of recs on my website. It's a pain in the arse, but I usually run a link checker over the entire thing about once a month (before I found the online one, I used to do it by hand!) to make sure all the links work. The link checker for all four pages of recs takes about 3 minutes a page and then I go and check the ones it's flagged as uncheckable (usually because of exclusion software). In total, it probably takes under 15 minutes.
So, colour me vexed when I discover recs pages that are still being updated where it's clear nobody has ever gone back and checked any of the old links, so pretty much all of the ones to stories I want to investigate are gone gone gone. Frustrating, eh?

Date: 2005-08-08 04:17 am (UTC)I do find it strange how often stories seem to move around on the internet (or just up and disappear), even when they have been placed on what seem to be large fannish archives. I've only moved mine once (from AOL onto my own domain name) and that was enough of a pain.
