Anyway, it wasn't just the outgrown uniform. (a) he was such a wannabe devious bastard but actually helpless fuck-up, and (b) all that biz with The Black Guardian was definitely highly fruity.

My favourite assistant was Romana - the first Romana, the snooty one. My second favourite was Turlough, I thought he added an edge to the stories which they'd lacked.

By the time Turlough came along, I'd had more than my fill of point-and-scream, so someone who wasn't squeaky clean was a plus in my book. Also Adric vexed me, but enough said about him the better... ;)
