I am apparently living in a world where "I'll get someone to call you" actually means "we're not really interested in you giving us your money".

Oddly enough, when I phone someone to come and look at my central heating (which is making odd noises, odd expensive- sounding noises), I would prefer this not to be the case...

Oh dear - it sounds like you may have inadvertently stepped into the twilight zone known as Plumber Hell. Here you will discover that phone calls are rarely returned. When they are returned (during that unusual planetary occurance known as a Blue Moon) arrangements will be made to visit your home, however, do not at this point get excitement. No one will ever appear at your door for The Plumber (aka The Boiler Engineer) is a rare and elusive creature, maybe even possibly mythical.
