So, the Sci Fi channel over here are finally showing Witchblade and I remembered hearing some people of my acquaintance raving over it back when it first aired in the US, so I thought I'd give it a try. Of course, I know it's only a limited run of episodes due, as I understand it, to Yancy Butler's alcohol issues, but it's entertaining enough in its own cheesy way.

The amusing thing with today's episode, before Sarah pressed the virtual reset button and everything went back to how it was before (damn you, writers!) was seeing everyone peel up at Irons' place and discover that Kenneth Irons shares accommodation with The Agency of Once a Thief fame. Yes, that self-same ornamental door that actually leads into a reservoir pumping station does double duty once again, proving that there's only a handful of locations in Vancouver - I don't think it's turned up in Stargate SG-1 yet, but there's still time.

However, Sarah Pezzini ranks up there alongside Buffy Summers as whiny-ass queen of the universe. The guy who plays Jake is also annoying, so I'm pleased that the reset button has brought back her real partner (the super-cool Will Yun Lee). And the show even has the pretty, in the form of John Hensley as the scarily-pretty Gabriel, though he doesn't come back in season 2. :(

Still, that's the thing I'm enjoying about satellite channels over here - once they get hold of a show, they play it to death in quick order so you don't have to wait. FX are shortly re-running The Shield, which I always wanted to see but never seemed to manage to catch the first episodes of, since I need to watch a show from the beginning. New shows coming on in January 2005 include The Wire and new seasons of Cold Case and NCIS. Woo and indeed yay!

I liked Witchblade before she hit the reset button because the stories that came after seemed rather thin.

Well, season 2 starts tonight at 6pm, so we'll see how we go...

You have FX. You have NCIS. I hate you.

I called NTL to ask if they were going to get the channel. They asked me how to spell it. *sigh*

Awwww. The offer's still open to do tapes!

Oh, bless you. I have all of the first season on tape (well, am about 2/3 of the way through copying them from a friend's set, and taking out the ads). I have some of S2, and will be getting some more on DVD as the season continues here in the UK. The, er, usual source is defunct.

Depends on where your usual source is - there's still torrents out there, you just have to know where to look... ;)

Let me know whether you want the whole run of s2 or particular eps, okay?

I've seen most of S2 up until Chained (missed a few eps due to lack of availability). I can wait, though. I have patience *g*

I actually thought the original idea of the literal reset button on Witchblade was going to be wicked cool--I mean, I love AUs, so I was thinking the whole second season could play out like a very interesting AU. But then the writers fucked it up big time, at least IMHO, and I got so pissed. I really wished I'd not even watched the second season because it ended up kind of ruining how good the first one was, to me.

Now the impression I got was that she's not supposed to remember what happened before, which kind of takes the fun out of it - if she's remembering and making conscious decisions to change things and having to deal with the consequences of her changes, then we're heading into Dead Zone territory instead, of course...

I'll let you know if I'm equally vexed with s2.

Sarah whined ENTIRELY too much...

was kind of fun though.

A little too much strobe lighting, too, at times. Though I could understand her growing paranoia as pretty much everyone she meets ends up dead eventually - it's like a Shaw Brothers movie! ;)

Oh, I do sort of have to admit to liking The Shield -- but then, it's incredibly violent, vaguely nihilistic and utterly without any redeeming qualities, so what's not to love? The Wire is kick-ass, a truly excellent show. I hope you're enjoying that. Which Cold Case are you watching? I presume the good BBC production with Trevor Eve? (I love Grace in that, she's terrific.) We have a seriously inferior version over here featuring some insipid washed-out blonde; although it's still better than most of the crap we have on the air in this era of "reality" TV, so I should not complain.

It lives!!111!! :P

Yep, I just watched the first two eps of The Shield and though I knew from vids etc. that Terry gets killed, I hadn't realised he gets killed quite so quickly. I always need to watch stuff right through so I can see I'm going to enjoy this...

As for The Wire, I've got the first episode on tape but haven't watched it yet. Ditto for the new season of Cold Case and I don't find her that vexing (though the amount of soft focus makes me think the actress in question has to be blowing the camera guy), but I'm much fonder of the supporting cast than her. It's Buffy all over again... ;)
