Our team Christmas dinner, formerly scheduled for a nice curry house, has now been re-arranged to the local chinese restaurant that thinks deep fried squid is a vegetarian option and bean curd with chilli sauce isn't. Deep joy.

Gods, I hate it when that happens.

The team outing to the curry house always involved me having a pitta bread and chips butty. Usually there was nothing on the menu that was suitable for someone who can't eat spicy stuff. I'm kind of used to that. I will be forever mystified by the fact that curry is the country's favourite meal. Blech.

As to the squid thing, you've forgotten the golden rule that folks use: anything that swims can be vegetarian. So that includes fish, scampi, squid, cows, horses and people. Simple, no?

I love curry and the place we *were* going to has a nice wide range of about a dozen different properly vegetarian options, including stuff with paneer, which isn't very common at all.

I'm still wondering why beancurd in chilli sauce doesn't count as vegetarian... ;)

Maybe the beancurd was frolicking in the fields the week before...
