A clear winner for dumbass comment of the week (paraphrased to protect the guilty):

"No, we won't pay for you to do this training course you want to do which actually gives you a higher qualification than the crappy half-baked course that we want you to do, because if you do then you won't be qualified to deal with complex cases [nb: these would be cases just like the ones I'm working now and have been working for the past 4 years] in the future."

That odd sound you heard was my brain imploding as a result of the utter illogicality of that statement. And don't we just love the utterly dismissive 'conform or die' attitude within which it was delivered?

I've been checking the regulations of the actual body which makes the awards (don't you just love the Internet), only to discover that it just ain't so! *g* There are no conditions on which of the two awards you register for, only criteria for how they're achieved. And don't think I won't be telling them that they made a mistake... Complete with chapter and verse.
