I can refer you to at least two other people on lj who live within approximately 30 miles of me who can in fact confirm that (regardless of it not being January yet) strange white stuff has fallen from the sky this afternoon.
We've already had the first flurries about a week or so ago. It didn't stay and it's about 12C and raining today but the this is only a bump should start really getting cold and snowing soon...
It snowed in Hertfordshire too. And I was amused to see on the news this morning that the most snow of the night was in the next village to where I grew up.
