I don't watch a great deal of tv, mostly because a lot of shows annoy me immensely and I have a low tolerance level for that since I can get enough of that at work. Any show that manages to hold my attention through the pilot episode is doing well (unlike Andromeda and Enterprise, to name but two).

So, here's my current thoughts as I watch some new stuff and other stuff comes to an end...

I have to say that I've been pleasantly surprised by Battlestar Galactica. Although the pilot mini-series felt a little like they'd got a checklist of things they needed to establish and were working their way through it, they did so in a competent way and got me interested enough to start watching the series.

And I like most of the characters. Apollo is still a little bit of a cipher, though the most recent episode added a little depth to him (and he also got roughed up and held captive in a prison ship! It's like a slash fan's wet dream! :P), but Jamie Bamber's not-quite-sure-where-I'm-meant-to-be-from accent is a little bland. Edward James Olmos is fantastic (as usual) and so far the female Starbuck is interesting rather than annoying. If they can keep her a little flawed and avoid the Romance = Character Development cliche, that'll be good.

Good to see Richard Hatch popping up as a guest star on the most recent episode. Also, where's Callum Keith Rennie? He's in the mini-series and I want him back! Finally, for now, I was amused to see Boomer get told by one of her superiors that she has to end her relationship with her subordinate now they're not decommissioning Galactica. It'll be interesting to see how they work that storyline.

Somehow I haven't been as enthused about this season of Six Feet Under as I was with the first two. In fact, there've been storylines I've fast forwarded past (Ruth and her annoying husband in particular) though the performance turned in by the guy who plays David and his cracking up more than made up for it. That whole carjacking/PTSD storyline was the most interesting of the season, imo.

I don't know if they're planning a 4th season and frankly I wonder if they shouldn't quit while they're ahead...

And no spoilers at all for Carnivale: I love this show. I have no idea what's going on half the time but I love it anyway. Can't wait for season 2.

Looking forward to Sky getting The 4400 later this month...
