Name ten canceled shows you love. Extra credit for those killed before their time. Double extra credit for shows with major queer text/subtext.

In no particular order other than that in which I thought of them:

1. Man from UNCLE - I wonder what future seasons would have been like, since season 4 had gone round to escaping the campness of dancing gorillas and the like and was quite bleak in parts.

2. Wild Wild West - the star was a small man with unfeasibly tight pants and chaps. Does that count as major subtext? ;)

3. Magnificent 7 - they had no idea what they wanted to do with this, and it showed. I'd say it counts among the 'killed before its time'.

4. Prey - damn it, that cliffhanger! Grrrrr. Also killed before its time. Though I must say I loathed both the woman with too much hair and Vincent Ventresca - he at least has served his penance by means of Invisible Man, of which more later.

5. Space: Above and Beyond - two script writers comprehensively prove that *they* were the talent behind the X Files. And then there's James Morrison looking damn fine. *sigh*

6. Nero Wolfe - not high enough ratings for A&E, apparently, despite being the best adaptations of the books *ever* and damn pretty to boot. Bastards. And to think they never got around to some of the best stories! *gnashes teeth*

7. Sports Night - witty and snarky, so it had to die. I don't get half the US sports references but I *love* Danny and Casey.

8. The Invisible Man - I'm currently re-watching season 2 and admiring Vincent Ventresca in those hip-huggers and black sweater. Somehow I never *quite* bought into the hoyay the way some people did, though I can see flashes of it there between Fawkes and Hobbes.

9. Angel - a world without Wes angsting and shooting things is a world irretrievably diminished. Thank heaven for re-runs! ;)

10. This space left deliberately blank for whatever show I like that's going to get culled next. So far there are no obvious candidates, but the night is still young... ;)

Did you see the episode where Hobbes started randomly gibbering about Bert and Ernie being lovers? ;)

I don't recall that episode, although a couple of eps felt somewhat slashy to me...

It was very random. I think it was the episode where they introduced Obnoxious Mary Sue Chick, whatever her name was, and they were walking through a hospital and suddenly Hobbes started talking about how Bert and Ernie were obviously a couple. I took that as a sign from TPTB that Mary Sue Chick only existed to Kill The Slash.

TPTB introducing an obnoxious MarySue Ship Interest? Who would have thought it?

Heh. Since my impression was that they Received An Order From On High and were flaunting it with Bert and Ernie...
