Home again, home again (jiggety jig!)

It seems longer than 2 weeks I've been away, what with MediaWest and everything else, but I'm back (despite the efforts of Continental to slow me down). The plane took off almost an hour late and then the luggage gremlins stole my bag - of course it had to be the one with the dirty underwear in it... it got searched at Newark, so I hope they enjoyed themselves!
Many thanks to
blktauna for her gracious hospitality! I truly am not qualified to associate with her. ;) Look forward to seeing the desert island fic sometime soon!
Anyway, MediaWest was loads of fun, meeting all sorts of people I wasn't expecting to and getting to see some of both the best and worst of human behaviour (because, frankly, some people need to get some social skills, stat, or at least get over themselves). And exploding Diet Dr Pepper, let's not forget that!
I came the closest I've ever come to heaving up because of turbulence on the way back to Detroit, though. Yeuch.
New York was a culinary experience, as I sampled the cuisine of half a dozen different countries and tried not to do a convincing lobster impression. Even SPF25 wasn't enough to save me at times! And I'd just say that anyone within a reasonable distance of the Metropolitan Museum of Art who hasn't seen the Byzantium exhibition is really missing out.
The one downside of my time in New York was not getting to meet up with
katyabaturinsky because of her self-inflicted lurgy, and I hope she feels suitably guilty. Bad Colleen, no biscuit!
Anyway, I'm back, the kids are back, the garden looks like the Serengeti, and now my car's electrical system is playing up. Grrr. Guess what I'm going to be doing tomorrow...
Many thanks to

Also, I get to see Katya tomorrow! And I heard her during the self-inflicted lurgy, and it wasn't pretty.

Date: 2004-06-16 07:33 am (UTC)If it makes you feel any better, I spent that entire weekend half-drowned from the fluid in my lungs. Be glad I spared you the horror.
(BTW, do you know if Annie is around? I sent her an e-mail last week inquiring about ordering and paying for the 2 new SG zines, and haven't heard anything. I don't want to bother her if she's out of town.)

Date: 2004-06-16 11:11 am (UTC)I know Annie had sold out of pretty much all the zine stock she had in hand and was waiting for some more to be printed and bound - she'd also hit a con last weekend (where she interviewed Tony Amendola) and she's off to another convention this weekend, so I'd expect you'll hear from her next week some time.
