- That I have just bought comics for the first time since before the people creating those comics were probably born (Hawkeye1 - My Life as a Weapon and Captain Marvel 1 - In Pursuit of Flight trade paperbacks, in case anyone was wondering).
- American-style pancakes. Mmmm. Totally pic-spam related addiction going on there.
- Significant levels of anticipation for new tv shows that will air in the autumn and be canned by Christmas, since they are on Fox (Almost Human).
- John Cho. 'Nuff said.
- That, thanks to a bunch of folks known as Unfuck Your Habitat, my house is probably cleaner and tidier than it's been for quite a while.
- That I am attempting to grow pumpkins so I can make pie when the inevitable pic-spam rolls around in a few months time, thus preventing a repeat of the American-style pancakes scenario.
- That my DVR is full of episodes of Young Justice, which the UK channel airing it apparently refuses to air in sequence. Seriously, guys, would it hurt so much?

Date: 2013-05-28 08:20 pm (UTC)I've read a few comics off and on, but it's often such a time suck to get into a series, and I'd often rather read fanfiction based on the comic instead of the actual comic.
I used to have an icon from a panel of xkcd which said "Final Battle Cancelled by Fox!" How true.
I'll be checking out that Tumblr, because I definitely need to unfuck my habitat. I did a big clean out not too long ago, but I need to do more in the way of organization.
I have a new DVR that I'm still trying to figure out. I can program it remotely from my phone, which is cool. Lots of other things I can do with it, but I just haven't had time to figure it out yet. I need to finish what's on the old DVR and put it into storage. It's several years old and lasted longer than I thought it would, but it's been getting glitchy. Still works, so it might come in handy in the future. The new DVR lists which episode of a series it's recorded by number and original air date. Old DVR just recorded stuff.

Date: 2013-05-28 09:33 pm (UTC)Having read shedloads of fic in various (mostly Marvel) universes in recent months, I feel like I've taken in a lot of stuff just by osmosis and I'm also quite picky about spending the kind of money involved in TPB - life being too short to buy individual comics and also they really aren't good value for money - for something I might not like. Now the wonders of the interwebs lets me see reviews first so I can get an idea if I'm going to want to pick up something, which has helped immensely in leading me astray.
Fox also has a series called Sleepy Hollow which looks good too, so doubtless the next verse for that will be the same as the last.
UFYH is awesome, I have to say, because it makes pretty much anything manageable and it's judgement-free, not to mention quite sweary in parts. This is a major bonus compared to some similar blogs, which can be immensely twee.
I bought a replacement (used) DVR which is the next step up but haven't got around to getting it paired with my satellite account yet - my existing one was making ominous whirring noises (that now seem to have stopped, so fingers crossed) and I just don't like the interface for the new one as much, so I'm torn. If the old one keels over, though, I won't really have much of a choice though I'm not sure if it's really a good idea for me to have something with significantly more storage so I don't have as much incentive to actually watch the things I record!

Date: 2013-05-31 02:33 am (UTC)I've been reading Marvel fanfic since... um... I think after Iron Man 2 but shortly before Captain America. Guess who I ship, eh? ;) Since we hadn't seen the MCU Cap in action, there was a lot of blending of various versions of his character from the comics in a mishmash of comics and the Iron Man movies. There's still a lot of mishmash, and it's kind of fun that way.
I'm too impatient to buy individual issues of comics. I prefer trades, but even then you have to wait for each volume to come out. The hazard of sequential art. I've been using interlibrary loans to get trades I'm interested in, but not sure about buying.
Most decluttering sites tend to be twee because it's expected that women will be reading it, and that's what they'll like. Bleh. Give me some cursing, because that's what I'll be doing when I'm cleaning.
I think I've got a handle on the DVR. Main problem was it was clipping off the end of episodes. Finally found where I could set the number of minutes to start early and run longer, just so you don't miss anything.
Getting time to watch all of it is a completely different issue.
