I've not seen anything that says you can't include current works in 'what I have written' so I'm going to include a couple of those as well...

1. Illya Kuryakin stood by the wall watching the dancers move - some graceful and certain, others more tentative - his eyes fixed on one pair in particular. (Man from UNCLE - The Oldest Profession, currently in progress)

2. He'd seen Jim arrested before, of course, seen him in handcuffs more times than he could recall, but even that knowledge didn't make seeing the police take him away this time any easier for Artie to swallow. (Wild Wild West - The Night of the Imperfect Alibi, currently in progress)

3. He'd always lived his life like he was ready to leave; bags packed and waiting by the door. (Magnificent Seven - Passing Through)

4. For a moment, when he was first aware of anything outside the silence and darkness in his own head, West wondered if he had woken at all. (Wild Wild West - All the Sinners, Saints)

5. He didn't like to talk about his childhood, being totally happy to let others draw what conclusions they might from the man he'd become. (Man from UNCLE - The Talented Mr Solo)

6. It started with the dress. (Magnificent Seven - A Portion of Thyself)

7. Afterwards, the world found that the scientists involved in the Trinity tests had run a sweepstake, the various options considered and ranked in order of likelihood. (Man from UNCLE - The Day After Trinity Affair)

8. The first time they met was in a place a thousand miles from anywhere either of them might call 'home'. (Magnificent Seven - Ev'ry Son of Liberty)

9. He'd learned the hard way just what he could and couldn't do, discovering the truth in a thousand different places as the evidence grew. (Magnificent Seven - Precautionary Measures)

10. He'd known Chris was watching him as he rode into town, but for once he didn't demand an immediate recounting of the patrol he'd just ridden and for that small mercy, Ezra was grateful. (Magnificent Seven - Aftermath)

11. Discretion might be the better part of valour, but discretion was one thing Dr. Artemus Gordon had never quite managed to master. (Wild Wild West - The Night of the Skull and Crossbones)

12. He hated being dirty. (Magnificent Seven - Flash Flood)

13. He wasn't ashamed of much he'd done in his life. (Magnificent Seven - Ritual)

14. Nathan wasn't sure if the others saw it, but he did; something about Ezra Standish just didn't add up. (Magnificent Seven - Trickster)

15. He could still remember the smell of burning flesh and the heat of the fire on his face. (Magnificent Seven - Himself His Own Dungeon)

16. He was in hell, there was no other explanation for it. (Magnificent Seven - Old Bones Buried Under)

17. At first sight the man didn't look like trouble, but if Ezra had known then what he knew now he'd never have let him sit down at his table. (Magnificent Seven - Veritas)

18. Even by the time she got on the train, she was the person she'd always known she really was - not who her mother wanted her to be, that was certain, but she'd made herself stop caring about that a long time ago. (Magnificent Seven - en travesti)

20. It wasn't anything he'd done, nothing he'd said, just the damned poor luck of a man who didn't move fast enough when trouble came calling. (Magnificent Seven - Wrong Place, Wrong Time)

21. All in all, there was precious little recompense for what they put themselves through, week in and week out. (Magnificent Seven - Tempters and Tricksters)

Wow, that's a lot more Mag7 than I thought! Also I am not as organised in posting/uploading fic to my website or A03 as I thought I was...

It is a lot of Mag7 but you have wonderful first lines, and I'm a little jealous of your titles too :)

Thanks, I've always thought of the first line as a hook, dragging people in. Actually, my personal favourite first line didn't make the cut because it was too old, but it's this (from an UNCLE fic):

Even though he was on his knees in the middle of the room, hands cuffed behind his back, Napoleon couldn't help wondering where Illya had found the cat.

As for titles, I tend to go for either poetry or song lyrics if I can, which helps immensely in impressing people. ;) Though being in two fandoms where there are conventions about titles (since the eps have similar conventions) - WWW being 'The Night of...' and UNCLE being 'The ... Affair' - helps a bit if you're feeling stuck!
