Holiday pics, part 4
Feb. 22nd, 2013 06:10 pmApologies for the delay, wasn't online last weekend as much as I'd hoped due to router problems... so, without any further ado, here's the elephant pics I promised (and a few more!).
The trip I was on had a few optional extras in it and one of them was a trip to Pinnewala to see the elephants - they come down to the river to drink and bathe twice a day, each time for a couple of hours.

Most of where they are in the river is only up to their knees or stomach, but there are also places where even the fully-grown adults can swim...

And then it's time to head back...

Next stop by the river, with this being the view from the other door to my room:

Sadly, I had to miss the promised white-water rafting but still got a chance to go on the river somewhere less energetic - we were upriver to where Bridge Over the River Kwai was filmed, with the cast all staying in the hotel where we were that night.

Next stop was heading up to tea country, but we discovered higher altitudes also means increased chance of mist...

That's it for this post, next up is Horton Plains National Park, World's End, then it's south to Yalla National Park and back to the seaside to finish off!
