graculus12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?
Sorry, not my cup of tea at all. Too much room for bad things to happen, with the worst I've seen being mediocre search-and-replace epics which cannibalise the original material word for word in terms of dialogue and barely qualify as AU because of the names of the characters.
My only exception to that is the Mag7 story I will never write, because of my issues with the plethora of (some incredibly crazy) AU in that fandom where I rip off the plot of 'Hard Boiled' with Ezra as the undercover cop in the middle of things and Chris as the detective discovering just who the inside man actually is...
Going back to the original question, however, I also have problems with a complete plot idea that wholesale copying of a book or movie storyline would involve as if I know how something works out that completely, why would I need to write it?
