1. Moose were apparently designed by committee, as they have approx. 33% more leg than they actually need and/or can control at any pace faster than walking.

2. I will never complain about the roads in England ever again. Ever. We don't know what potholes are!

3. It is completely possible to fall off the vegetarian wagon where fish and shellfish are concerned (anyone who hasn't seen the restaurant menus over there does not get to judge me!) and then pick up being a veggie again with relief when you get back to civilisation.

4. That I am incredibly glad digital cameras were invented as I took hundreds of photos and would have bankrupted myself if we were still in the world of processing. Plus this way nobody gets to see the crap, out of focus ones, of which there were quite a few.

5. Icebergs are both literally and metaphorically cool. Pics to follow. ;)

Yep, got back at a god-awful early time on Tuesday, slept most of the day, then back to work on Wednesday. Am now just starting to get my shit together sufficiently so I can make some proper posts with pics!

Hell, yes. My relatively cheap point-and-shoot Canon Powershot has got me some awesome pics this trip, of which more soon. ;)

Moose are bizarre aren't they :-) Pictures just don't quite do them justice.

Heh! I've only been in the city once so I had no idea that the roads were bad but yeah it makes sense.

Ouch! At least I hope the fish and shellfish were good?

Can't wait to see picture especially L'Anse aux Meadows!

Did you get to see whales too? Did you do the kayak trip? Details, we want details! Like did you succumb and try some screech?

*hugs*

It was the moose that ran along the roadside next to me that told me everything I need to know... ;)

As for the fish etc. I guess I've been a veggie so long I couldn't remember what they were like and so it was a bit of a letdown when I eventually did succumb to them. They were good enough, but not so wonderful they made me jump the fence!

Also, only saw one whale (bit too early in the season), the kayaking happened though not as originally planned, but there were icebergs a plenty and no screech. Some very nice Newfoundland-brewed beer, though! :)

LOL You had a moose running beside you on the road? Why am I not surprised?

I spent most of my trip eyeing the sides of the road looking for lurking moose. One morning, suddenly there was a moose on the side of the road (to my left, fortunately). It decided at the last moment not to fling itself in front of my car after all and then galloped along the verge, legs flailing, for about 100m before disappearing back into the forest.

I had a great time and I'm sure I'll be back there at some point. All the pics are huge at the moment so I have to wrangle them into more accessible size before I can inflict share them. :)

As a fellow veg, I grant you slack. We are still human, afterall (dammit).

Thank heavens for digital. I remember on one vaca I'd taken 5 rolls of film and has rolled them up in wads of paper towel, the only thing I'd had on hand, to prevent the sun from hitting them. When I got back to the hotel room that night, I dumped all the "trash" in my bag into the bin and went to sleep that night. Thank goodness in the middle of the night I woke and realized I'd pitched those film canisters into the trash.

Oooh, I cannot wait for these pics. And to hear of all the adventures.

The fish etc. was okay (after a few days of grilled cheese sandwiches and fries I was desperate!) but not wonderful enough to make me take up eating it again. I meant to take a photo of the page in the menu of one place which served moose soup, moose pie, mouse stew and moose pizza. ;)

Also, I got sunburned! In Newfoundland! Which makes me wonder if Sheldon Cooper-style moonburn is next, as I usually pale enough to use for signalling ships...

Very! :)

Looking forward to the pictures because I've never been to Newfoundland yet.

Did you get close enough to a moose to smell it? Urgh!

Glad you're back safely! Now, on to the pictures!
