The words 'stinking bug-ridden pile of shit software' might have been invented for Pinnacle Studio 8. *sigh*

It's led me astray. My first vid, an SG one, it worked perfectly for. Now I'm working on vid number 2 (Once a Thief, I love that show!) and every time I get an almost completed vid it freezes up, utterly refusing to render it into mpeg or anything. FCOL!

I've rebooted, I've even reinstalled the buggy piece of crap all over again, and still no joy.

*headdesk*

Just in case... is it the source video file rather than the software? I tried a program that converted vid files from one format to another so I could put them on my PDA. One file, it just kept crashing. I couldn't see any issues with the vid file, but just in case I downloaded it fresh again. Same file, same size, looked the same when it ran. But this one converted fine.

Perhaps Pinnacle isn't the villain? Or it might be. That's the extent of my IT help.

All the video files I've been using have been captured using the same program - the SG one works perfectly and Pinnacle happily let me tinker with it, save it, re-open it and then render it into mpeg. The Once a Thief ones, it just won't. End of story.

I gave up and started using Windows MovieMaker instead, and while it's not cutting the clips up as nicely, it seems to be a much more robust program and hasn't complained at all about using the same source video files. Hence one completed vid, with way less headache than Pinnacle.

A quick google of the software seems to show I'm not the only person who's had problems with it...

Ah. Oh well. I think we're back to "stinking bug-ridden pile of shit", then. Weird, though, that Movie Maker is better. Does this mean Microsoft didn't write it, but just bought it off someone else?
