Yesterday, I posted about K, who is doing our collective heads in at work and received a variety of suggestions how to handle it.

Today I met with the rest of the team who decided that they didn't want me to try and deal with her behaviour, they just wanted K gone and were prepared to suck it up if that meant extra work. I said I'd deal with this when I got back from my week off, as I didn't want to leave it for someone else to deal with while I was away.

Then, K's karma finally kicked her in the arse good and proper. :)

Essentially, we discovered this afternoon that on Monday she'd sent out a letter from our team, without running it past me, that puts us in a very bad situation. As in, we could get sued big-style and wouldn't have a leg to stand on because of what she's written. My boss is furious and intends to Deal With Her when she's next in (Monday) and so I don't have to because K will be gone by the time I get back! \o/

Karma's real. :) I totally believe in it!

What kind of letter was it?

Basically, K had told this guy to do something in a way that made it look like our particular bit of local government would support him in doing this, even though we couldn't possibly commit to doing so based on just the information he'd given us.

I can't believe my good fortune. ;)

Whoa.

And the word "government" is in that -- I see lots of trouble in K's future.

Result!

If only all the pain in the arse people would shoot themselves so thoroughly in the foot.

I couldn't have set it up better if I'd wanted to, not to mention that my boss is now so steamed she's going to deal with it personally because K has really dropped herself in it.

I must stop sniggering... ;)

And if you work in local government for any length of time without realising that there are good reasons to get letters checked before you send them to the public or developing the sense to know when to check stuff then you deserve everything that hits you.

Could, as you and your boss not only didn't approve but didn't see what was sent, she be held personally liable for any damages?
