Yes, it's that time of year again... how did May roll around so quickly and the con happen so fast? Hello to everyone I met at MW this year, friends old and new. Highlights of the con included:

  • taking part in a panel on Merlin so successful at pimping that someone was ordering the dvds from England mid-way through.

  • [livejournal.com profile] obelix breaking the hotel room toilet

  • a late night discussion that included me breaking [livejournal.com profile] obelix's pairing, the catchphrase of the weekend for me being 'have some more pie, Spencer' (for which I am promised buttons next year...)

  • discovering more places in exotic Lansing where I can actually eat stuff!

  • the magic hotel room, where coffee and crullers just appear on my bedside table before I wake up (it was suggested [livejournal.com profile] sithdragn didn't tick the right box on the hotel form as this didn't happen for her)

  • speaking of [livejournal.com profile] sithdragn, getting moved on by Security for the amount of hysterical laughter that followed the first UNCLE slash panel, the contents of which conversation were just lightly touched upon at the second...

I am happy to enlarge on the above, if anyone is interested. ;)

I want to hear about hysterical laughter and UNCLE.

Essentially what happened was that there was an UNCLE slash panel which included the question 'is there anything you think Napoleon or Illya wouldn't do?'. Naturally, our minds all ended up in the gutter pretty quickly - I have to say that it was a gen fan in the panel itself that mentioned tentacles.

However, the real discussion then took place outside the panel prompting hysterical laughter, since it included things like felching and teabagging, as well as the concept of Napoleon in a Japanese schoolgirl uniform. There may have also been some debate over whether sex with zombies counted as necrophilia or not, given that zombies are technically sentient (in some form). And then Security asked us to move along as we were disturbing the next panel. ;)

Disturbing is the right word for it. Wonderfully, wonderfully disturbing!

Napoleon in a Japanese schoolgirl uniform.

Which I still want to see.

*grumble* I did not break the toilet!*grumble*

You know I can't even read "have more pie, Spencer" without giggling and I was at the market yesterday and couldn't help giggling when I saw the small individual pies they were selling. They would be just the right size for Morgan to carry with him and offering Reid. My pairing is broken :-(

I'm trying to find a close recipe for that baked mac and cheese. I'm thinking of writing the diner to see if they will send it to me.

It's a little know ticky box on the form and you must have a Canadian in the room ;-) BTW I ended up going to Tim Horton's yesterday for breakfast since we hadn't done the groceries and I was almost about to get two crullers when I remembered I wasn't at MW anymore. I'm well trained ;-)

Oh and I ordered the Merlin DVDs since they are cheaper then the full set. Now I need a good Merlin/Arthur icon ;-)

Oh yes, curious as to what restaurants were good eating (hoping they'll be there next year).

Aldaco's (Mexican) was excellent, as usual. We also tried Three Amigos (also Mexican, pretty much next door to Aldaco's) and that was good too, with lots more choice for me as a vegetarian, but was quite a bit more expensive for no apparent reason.

The big hit of the weekend was the Fleetwood Diner, for which the directions are essentially 'turn left as you leave the hotel, drive straight on till you see the shiny metal thing on the right hand side'. Big portions, home-made Greek stuff and great mac-and-cheese, for which we returned on Monday to comfort ourselves over the con being finished. ;)

I have to remember the Fleetwood Diner for next year. We couldn't find a thing that looked good, and veggie options are pretty slim if you don't want to dine on French fries the entire weekend.

Not into Mexican, but Fleetwood Diner sounds interesting!
