graculus: (sarcasm)

Is it wrong of me that one of the reasons I wanted to come to Arizona was because of a certain chain of used bookstores? Let's just say there are 5 branches of said chain, I have already been in three of them (with a trip to the 4th planned for tomorrow), and my theory for the second and third of 'if I don't take a bag in, I'll buy less' really hasn't stood up too well to testing.

Hello, my name is [livejournal.com profile] graculus and I am a book addict. :)

However, if you're looking for the book addict 12-step program, this is the wrong place to start, since while I accept I have no control over my book-acquisition, I don't particularly think it's that big an issue in and of itself. After all, although my TBR pile occupies a bookcase on its own, I am actually capable of allowing books to leave my house, in the form of swaps or sales or even donations to charity shops! If I were that big an addict, surely you'd have to pull the books from my cold dead hands?

How can it be wrong when it feels so right? ;)

Here via friendsfriends:

I love Bookmans! I've been to four of the five -- the Mesa location is my favorite.

If you're anywhere near Las Cruces, NM, during your trip, I also recommend COAS bookstore. Not as many books as Bookmans in Mesa, but still quite a lot crammed into a fairly large retail space.

I just got back from the Mesa store, which seems to be only occupying half its space? Still made out like a demon, though. ;)

Alas (or possibly not, given the fact I already have way too many books to take home) I'm heading north to Michigan on Thursday so the NM bookstore raid will have to take place another time...

Maybe they're remodeling? I only make it out there about once a year to visit family, so I'll have to see what's up!

Providing you've finished reading the book. ;-)

If I'm dead, I think you can assume I'm done with said volume...

Well, if it were particularly good, I suspect you'd come back just to finish it. Priorities and all. ;-)

Most of my book club members plan sidetrips into vacations to go to used bookstores, taking along the "group list" we maintain at all times.

There's something wrong with that?

Hey, you're a book pimp librarian as well, so I'm not sure you're exactly objective... ;)

This was happening even before I worked in the library. I'm beyond help.

I was talking to an out-of-state friend (who once had to drag me away from a book display in an airport) on the phone after getting my job.

He was silent for a moment before asking "They're paying you to buy books? What the hell were they thinking?!" *g*

I love collecting books, and only get rid of them if it's in exchange for another, so you have a plus on me :)
