Tucson, where SPF 30 really does work!

Used bookstores are bad and wrong - how many books have I bought? I'll never tell, and there are also bookstores in other places I'm visiting. (Super sekret message to
xochiquetzl: guess who picked up a certain other two books in a certain series?).
It's hot here, but there's aircon and the sun cream works. Really. Maybe a little too well. ;)
Finally saw the Star Trek so I can read spoilers now, and thought it was great apart from the woeful underuse of Uhura - why bother to even include her if she only gets to be the Token Love Interest, let alone why find a woman with such a freakily long neck to play her?
Yep, today was pootling-around-drinking-chai-and-going-to-the-movies day, after yesterday I headed off to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in the (very sunny) morning, had lunch there and then spent the evening at the Kitt Peak observatory. Which was incredibly cool, as we got to go up and see the sunset from the observation level of the 4m telescope and then got an outdoor lesson in basic astronomy and planispheres (after watching the International Space Station going over) followed by a chance to use one of the smaller telescopes. This did, however, mean I didn't get back to the hotel till almost midnight, hence the change of plans to relative idleness today.
Tomorrow? I'm off south to St. Xavier del Bac and then horseriding in the mountains in the afternoon. I've got used to driving on the wrong side of the road now (unlike last time around, I've only tried to change gear with the door handle once this trip, and that was on the first day) and Friday is probably going to be museums day. Maybe. Or I might just drink more chai, we'll see... ;)
