Well, the AU Stargate thing is finally done (first draft anyway) - it didn't quite reach novel length, since it currently stands at just over 37,000 words in first draft form. I don't see that it's going to get that much longer when revised, since I really don't believe in padding for the sake of it.

In case anyone's interested, it's called 'Journeys End' and will hopefully be appearing in Off the Record, a slash 'what if?' zine, premiering at MediaWest.

What's it about? Well, it has Daniel Jackson figuring out how to open the Stargate, and Jack O'Neill getting to be the first one to go through it, but I don't want to spoil the overall premise - trust me, this is *not* a story you'll have read before! ;) At the moment I'm still trying to write a summary that doesn't give everything away!

I'm also working on a lengthy season 5 gen re-write for the companion gen zine Splinters 2, and a Man from UNCLE story for Relative Secrecy 8 (which has turned into Napoleon Solo and his mid-life crisis! *g*)

And yes, I am procrastinating because assignment number 3 is due in on Friday, why do you ask? ;)

ETA: I forgot to post that I got 60 for assignment number 2, so we're still well on target to go onto year 2 (which requires an average of 50 across the four assignments).

Is it sad that I just started making a list of "zines to buy at MediaWest" off of your LJ entry? Or is it just scary? *snerk*

Hey, Misto!

Well, the Relative Secrecy zines are always worth getting, imo... and Off the Record looks like it's going to be good, with a lot of long, plot-heavy stories. Which is the kind of zine I like best, even when I haven't paid for it... ;)

See you in May, then? :)

I managed to get my hands on a couple of the earlier Relative Secrecy zine's last year, and I'm definately planning on getting a couple more this year. They were really well done. I asked Josee to rec me some MFU stuff last year, and that was one of the zines (and the only one I can remember now) that she told me to get.
I was planning on getting a couple stargate zines this year as well, since I'm getting back into that fandom. Off The Record looks like it will probably be one of the ones I pick up. Plot is definately a bonus ;)

And yup, I'll definately be there again this year. I'm still hanging around the outskirts of Lansing, so I'd probably bash my head into a brick wall if I missed MW, it'd just be stupid *g*
Which reminds me, I probably ought to get my membership soon *snicker*

Yeah, the Relative Secrecy zines are of such a consistent high quality (and good value for money as well!) I'd recommend them to anyone wanting UNCLE slash zines.

I'd also recommend that you try and get hold of 'Strange Interludes' by ELG if you're buying Stargate slash - a monstrous novel full of alternate realities. Utterly great and completely engrossing!
