Huh?

This afternoon I finally managed to get hold of the guy who'd interviewed me on Friday and who'd almost caught up with me yesterday. And I didn't get offered either job. Not to blow my own trumpet (too much) but although I'll freely admit my interview wasn't top-notch, I refuse to believe that it was so poor that there were two people better than me on the day and with a similar level of experience.

I'm more inclined to think the fix was in, given that these jobs were only advertised on the county's website while the more senior jobs got into the national press. That and the fact I would have been much more expensive to employ than pretty much anyone else who applied, given that local government loves to start people on the bottom of the paygrade given half a chance.

My current boss thought I was messing with him and took some persuading I wasn't. Me, I'm still just a bit gobsmacked.

Bummer - sorry to hear you didn't get offered either job. Seems it is not the week for new jobs all round :-(

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get offered one of the jobs. It does indeed sound like one of 'those' things when it was already decided, but they had to interview.
