To complement the HP fic extravaganza that is [livejournal.com profile] recs_by_grac in recent weeks months, Yuletide now gives me the chance to rec stuff from all sorts of weird and wacky fandoms, including:

Entourage: 'Top Billing' (E/Vince)

Lord Peter Wimsey: 'The First Year After' (gen)

Real Ghostbusters: 'Into Still Water Like a Star' (Peter/Egon)

Peacemakers: 'An Honest Man' and 'True Gold', (both Stone/Finch)

I'm sure there's more good stuff in the 1200+ stories, particularly since I have no idea about a chunk of the fandoms... :)

In other news, it's always seemed to me a good idea not to name your pet (particularly your dog, who's much more likely to be called by his name in public) something that's not too embarrassing to shout. For example, if you're going to end up shouting your dog's name in the street at 8am on Christmas Day morning, then perhaps you might want to choose something for it other than 'Squidgy'? And no, I don't know what kind of dog 'Squidgy' might be...

I was talking to someone at the local ferret rescue and she was saying that ferrets will come in with the most ridiculous names like "Little Shit" and "Fartface", which they immediately change for adoption.

Now, I'm not saying I've never called one of my furkids a 'little shit' when I discover that they've upended a glass of wine that their stupid owner left within reach all over the blankets, but I can't imagine going in to the vet's office and waiting for them to come out going, "We're ready for Little Shit now." Especially as there are inevitibly kids in my vet's waiting room.

I really wonder what possesses some people.

I assume they solve that problem by just not going to the vets. Easy. ;)
