Dear Judge, the reason we cannot produce our policy document on that particular issue is not that we are being awkward, it is that we're abiding by national regulations, those same regulations we were abiding by two months ago when you last asked us to produce our policy document on that particular issue in this very same case. *headdesk* Going on to say "I asked for it last time and it couldn't be produced" does not give you a free pass, it just makes it look like you either a) don't listen, or b) have very selective amnesia. Or possibly both.

Dear barrister, pink shirt and turquoise tie? Is there something you want to tell us? Or are you wearing that combination on a bet?

It was only when I started meeting/working with politicians (local and otherwise), civil servants and lawyers a few years back that I realised how unlikely it is that anything ever gets done! But it does, somehow...
