See, I can't read rants like this because they always give me story ideas.

Gay elves who fight crime. See, I've already got two ideas. Possibly three. OK, four if you count the 'Batman' idea I'm beating to death with a stick. Or the 'Spike was a changling and was returned to his family 500 years later as a young adult, only to be bitten by a crazy vampiress and thus kicked out of his elfen family until he could learn how to not bite people, which, now that he has a soul, could happen if he weren't insane so his cousins are going to mount a rescue and take him back Under Hill only first Spike wants to go hit Angel one last time'.
