Numb3rs: I'd count myself as one of the people who got whiplash from the Colby-the-double-agent revelation at the end of last season, since I hadn't seen that particular angle coming out of the nowhere it emerged from, especially since it completely jibed with everything we'd seen onscreen of Colby Granger since the character was introduced. It's nice to see the season premiere vindicate him, but this should have been a two-parter, to give the whole storyline some justice.

First off, how did Colby and Carter get from the subway to the boat? And then suddenly the big bad is introduced, with no hint he existed before he pops up on the freighter? Just not getting it. Sure the action scenes were handled as confidently as you'd expect one of the Scott brothers, but you also need the glue to hold those scenes together in a more coherent storyline.

This was probably one occasion when the overlap between Eppes work and Eppes family life didn't really work. I can see Megan opening up to Larry but I didn't buy the whole scene between Dad and David in the same way, while once again Amita proves to have no purpose but to be decorative and/or remind us all that Charlie is straight. Though at least it's nice to see that Don has benefited from last season's therapy and can now immediately spit out what's bothering him, while David is still sulking over his boyfriend. I look forward to seeing how that works out over the rest of the season...

Moonlight: Well, the kindest thing I can probably say about this is that a) it shows some promise and b) at least they didn't cast the cookie cutter brunette this time around. Though how they managed to end up with an Australian male lead and an English female lead, both with American accents, I'm not quite sure. What a shame the leading man doesn't look like another vampire I've been watching recently... (mmm, Kyle Schmid). Oh, and c) Jason Dohring looks really good in a suit. Really good. Even if the character is currently a little more Logan-the-vampire than supporting Josef's supposed age.

I feel I should also mention the really piss-poor CGI. Seriously, making someone's hair ruffle because they're 'driving' does not compensate and make us suddenly believe he's outside! Demerits too for the stunt casting, getting the guy who played Dracula on Buffy turn up as a wannabe vampire professor just smacks of trying a little too hard... Finally, like it's never lupus, it's always the grad student rather than the kooky professor! Lastly, Evanescence? Yikes.

So far, returning show top marks goes to Heroes, followed by Boston Legal, though we still have the Dexter season premiere to come. New shows, it's Life by a long way at the moment...

Numb3rs was a disappointment but it didn't make me want to throw things at the tv at least (well only briefly with the appearance of MarySue!Amita) and at least we get Colby back *hint, hint* ;-)

Even the presence of Jason Dohring can not make me watch Moonlight unless they improve dramatically and since I've watched Forever Knight I keep expecting LaCroix to show up somewhere ;-)

Life I'll have to give another try but it's just not exciting me *sigh*

That guy was on Buffy? See, I've seen the professor on about a half a dozen shows. Though I wouldn't say it was trying too hard so much as that it was a bit of a joke for fans who recognized him (I just recognized him as the pretty guy who played a terrorist on NCIS).

I can dismiss the bad special effect driving, but only because they did spend the money on the good stuff (the actors and sets).

As for why they got a British woman and an Aussie guy... that's happening a lot this year. They say it's because they're trying to find new faces, but I think it reflects the fact that so many of America's "pretty" actors aren't all that good, whereas the UK seems to turn out far more skilled actors than its TV industry can put to work. They have a surplus of the good stuff, I think, and I'm happy to get people like them doing the accents (esp. as it did take Hugh Laurie a season to really get the accent down, and who cares if it slipped sometimes first season, as he's so f-ing brilliant?)

Numb3rs... I'd rather see Val just pop up than have to go with the familiar "if you saw him in the first few moments, he'll be the bad guy in the end" schtick. Plus Val! Too cool. And Shawn Hatosy, who was even better this time (and I hope will be back).

I did like that Alan's talk with David seemed awkward (maybe just because it was).

Also, Amita who? *g*

I have to agree that the time continuity was rather screwed up in "Numbers". It would have made a lot more sense (and been more dramatic) to have made this 2 episodes, but I guess they didn't want to get into the whole touchy-feely bit (hence Amita's uselessness in the ep. They wanted to make sure that everyone remembered he's straight!)

I figured that Val's sudden appearance and brief screen time was probably due to the fact that they really couldn't afford to buy too much of his time. Personally, the character could have been interesting, but I really got the impression that Val was phoning it in. "Oh yeah, I have to be evil now, so I'll sound bored and cold."

I love that song by Evanescence, but, please, how stereotypically goth can you get? Considering the number of those buttons they were already pushing, you'd think they'd have spared us this last one.

Like you, I'm glad that the heroine wasn't cookie-cutter and I actually sorta liked the premise that he'd been her guardian angel for years.

The CGI was pitiful. Flashbacks to the 60's/70's style of being "on the road". I was expecting to see cars from that era going by, it was so bad. I'm also not thrilled with the vampire effect.
