I decided after Lily passed away that it probably wasn't a good idea to leave it too long before I added at least one more ferret to the current threesome - my boys are all about the same age and while they're all currently as healthy as horses, I had visions of bad things happening to two of them in quick succession and then worried about how the one left behind would cope.

When I boarded the kids, I had a look at some of last year's babies but they seemed so small in comparison to the heffalumps, and one of them bit the hell out of my finger, which didn't seem to bode well. That made me think maybe something a little bit older and bigger might be a good idea, for the sake of my fingers and my sanity (what's left of it).

Anyway, I'm off next Sunday to look at some possible candidates and the kids are coming too, so we can start to see how they get along and that there isn't complete and utter antipathy... though I have two cages, so it's not going to be too much like Fight Club once I get a new one home. I am also just about to order a bigger hutch for them all as well, so when I say 'candidate', I wouldn't rule out the possibility we may go from three to five. After all, why would five be so much more work than four? ;)

Yes, there will be photos. And yes, it's also quite possible there may be renaming. After all, when I got him, Dougal was 'the hob with no name' (since the shelter hadn't got around to naming him yet), while Remus was 'Fred', which I didn't think suited him at all.

Yay for more ferrets. Someone local to me was seeking homes for ferrets a couple of weeks back and I very nearly emailed you, but wasn't sure if you were interested in newbies. I was tempted myself, but fortunately sanity reigned - I really haven't got the time to devote to them, cute and adorable though they may be. Of course I still have that empty rat cage that calls out for a new occupant....

Yay! More ferrets! AND I totally agree with renaming. Magick was "Sandy", even though Spirit is my champaign. Spirit was "James" and Gaia was "Lucy". As much as ferrets ever do, they learned their new names within a month. :)
