It's really been one of those weeks. After feeling absurdly pleased with myself for finishing the novel, work has been crazily busy for one reason or another - on the positive side, the lead solicitor is back at work, but that means I need to make sure she's caught up on everything. Meanwhile, certain members of the rank and file are exhibiting the same strong grasp on reality and common sense as always... in other words, very little. I mean, please, if I send you a file back with comments on it, then please don't submit the uncorrected version to our legal people, thanks so much.

Ever had one of those conversations you can't get out of? I was talking to a certain member of staff I mentally refer to as Eeyore (life is so hard, heavy sigh, you're oppressing me by trying to get me to do my job, heavy sigh), who told me she's leaving early next week, and no matter how hard I tried to impress on her that maybe the work she's been doing that involves paperwork going to court ought to come first, I just found I was digging myself into a deeper hole. So I gave up, though she did whine at her manager about me afterwards that I was mean to her, not that the manager paid much attention to this other than a cursory 'you understand I have to speak to you about the fact she's whined at me, don't you?' conversation. Fortunately I think I should be out of the office sufficiently to avoid Eeyore completely between now and when she goes.

In other news, I finally caught up with all the lovely stuff that has fallen off the internet truck onto my computer in recent weeks, so here goes:

Heroes: Oh, Nathan. Oh, Peter. Oh, Mohinder. No change there, then. ;)

I happened to catch the spoilers for next weeks ep as well, which is set five years in the future, and it looks really good. Also no surprises there. However, I want to see the scene where Mohinder finds out Peter isn't really dead. Or at least wasn't permanently dead, and at least Claire had enough sense to figure out what to do.

It's also good to see the back of the emo!hair, so I hope that's a permanent change, although I've got so used to seeing Peter with it all flopping over his face that it now looks really odd that it doesn't. No pleasing us, is there? But your big brother really doesn't listen to you, does he?

Raines: I have to say, I wasn't overly convinced at first by the whole idea, since it seemed just a little too much like a number of other shows that have been around - Tru Calling for one, though this doesn't have the whole going back in time thing. However, I've been impressed by both Jeff Goldblum and the way in which the show itself has performed, so it's now on my list (and I blame [livejournal.com profile] obelix, though it's rare for her to pimp me into something and not the other way around!). Apparently there are only 8 episodes in this season, though? :(

Regenesis: Back with a bang, literally, though it's good to see that some things remain unchanged... like David's ongoing crusade to have more sex than every other character in the show has ever had in any period of time. [livejournal.com profile] nialla42 has called him the Ultimate Man Whore and that title will apparently remain unchallenged till the end of time, if both his behaviour so far this season and the preview for this weekend's episode have anything to say about it.

Meanwhile, Bob continues to be twitchy and wonderful as ever, though it would be nice for them to get around to what he went through as they're apparently working their way through the surviving cast from season 2. This week's was Mayko's episode, and it was nice to see James Allodi getting an appearance on the show since as one of the dozen-Canadian-actors-there-are it was about time...

Boston Legal: What can I say about this show that hasn't already been said, often by me? I was wondering when they'd resolve the whole Alan-Hands thing and it was so nicely done, including Denny's "So, he took you back" line on the balcony afterwards and the tiny undercurrent of jealousy. Meanwhile Shirley continues to kick arse, which is as it should be.

Blood Ties: There can never be anything wrong with a show where you get to chain up, whip and rip the shirt off the pretty one of the main characters, can there? I actually quite like the whole Henry/Mike dynamic, it amuses me, though sometimes I just want to throw a bucket of water over the two of them. Still, the Henry torture scenes make me willing to forgive much.

E.T.A. And let me just take a moment to pimp a little show called Psych to my fellow Brits who have access to cable/satellite. It's an entertaining show about a guy who has incredible powers of observation and uses them to pretend to be a psychic, in order to get involved with the police. It's showing in the UK on Hallmark (153 on Sky) and the pilot episode is airing again on Sunday at 8pm. The show has been renewed for a second season and already this season's episodes have Shawn and his sidekick Gus (who make such a cute couple, particularly since neither of them have much shame) getting involved in all sorts of scenarios - a comic convention, Civil War re-enactment, spelling bees, speed dating events... It's one of those popcorn shows and we all need that sometimes, don't we? ;)

Heh!

It's quirky but fun. I have no idea if it will be renewed though :-(

Not done reading about 1/3 on but girl, this is FANTASTIC!

I've been impressed by Raines too, much more than I expected to be. It's very gentle, humanistic and thoughtful for a detective show, Goldblum is a really good actor, and the Venice, California location adds a dash of local color.

Larry King Live had an hour devoted to the show with all the cast last night. I missed the first bit, but they had all of the cast together, then broken up into small groups to ask more detailed questions. They also showed clips that I'm assuming are from the next episode. [impatiently waiting for the next episode]

And in regards to ReGenesis, David shall always be the Ultimate Man Whore. He's making sex into an Olympic-level event. ;)

From what I've gathered from the "Making of Season 3" special (which is really spoilery) and other sources, what happened to Bob will be referred to a few times through the season, but it will get more explanation at the end of the season, with Bob at the center of the finale.

I do have to say I love how they use split-screens and quick cuts on the show. Usually it's to have one screen with a character technobabbling, while the other has the explanation. This time, I was a bit amused by having the majority playing poker while Wes was using his ultimate poker face to intimidate the guy at the transplant service.
