graculus: (oh please)

I can walk and chew gum at the same time, not that I chew gum that often, but it's disconcerting to discover that I'm still apparently the world's least coordinated human being.

Or at least that's the impression I've gained from attempting to go along with an exercise dvd I rented, more out of curiosity than hope... it seems that, as I was in the days when my mother used to call me 'Calamity Jane', I am incapable of managing a sequence of actions without dire consequences. Single actions, yes, but anything that involves doing one thing, then doing something else and something else after that in quick succession, not so good.

So much for that version of Plan A. At least my use of the Amazon dvd rental system allows me to discover this cheaply! ;)

And speaking of dvds (hey, nice segway!), I probably shouldn't mention to a couple of people on my friendslist who're bound to get overexcited that season 2 of Judge John Deed is out in February.

Yay! Consider me overexcited. (Yes, I'm a sad bastard. But I'm a sad bastard who's finally vidding Life on Mars. Does that make me better?)

Well, I am at least consistent...

That's funny! My mother used to call me "Tanglefoot" because I tripped over and dropped things all the time...and still do. I have a six inch bruise on my thigh from wandering into the boss' credenza the other day. *sigh* I always hoped I'd grow out of it, but alas; no such luck.

I also have the misfortune of being blonde and bruising easily, so it's quite rare for me to not have at least one bruise somewhere or other... I've always been able to manage when it comes to playing sport but then I was never into martial arts, or dancing, or anything that involved doing a sequence of things. ;)

Woo-hoo! I so have my mother's Christmas and birthday presents lined up the year now.

Oh, another one - you weren't on my original list of saddos, but then it seems to be saddo by proxy in your case... ;)

Oh, I love it too, in all it's cracktastic glory, but I'm not sure that I'd actually want it on DVD. Maybe one day when it's on special offer.

(We should club together and buy a set for [livejournal.com profile] mandragora1 :-)

It could be a new game for Connotations: how many minutes can you get into an episode before [livejournal.com profile] mandragora1 spontaneously combusts? ;)

Or perhaps a 'spot the legal and scientific errors' drinking game. Except that we'd all end up either bankrupt or dead of alcohol poisoning.

That show should come with a health warning for that kind of thing - there's only so much the human liver can take! ;)

Excercise? What's that?

I'm not physically capable of that sort of thing, myself. I'm pretty sure it's genetic -- so, it's not my faaauult.

However, I have been toying with Tai Chi as a means of caring for my crumbling temple in at least some small way. So far, at this ultra-beginning level, I really like it (and apparently it actually burns a whole lot more calories than you might think).

It's ironic, really, because I can be coordinated enough to play many sports, but when it comes to putting your right foot somewhere and then moving your left foot and then your right foot again and thinking about it and moving your arms some other way and then doing it faster than that... nope.

Tai Chi is on my list of possibles too, mostly because I hope even I could manage to do a sequence of things moving that slowly. ;)

I'm hopelessly uncoordinated, probably as a consequence of hypermobility (it's definitely got worse as my joint problems have got worse) and I also bruise easily, which I suspect is a related connective tissue disorder.

Not fun.

I was always uncoordinated, without any excuse whatsoever... I've become accustomed to my level of klutziness, though.

Woo Hoo! Season 2 of Judge John Deed :-)

And I wouldn't worry about the exercise DVD thing, it takes a lot of time and practice to get to do those exercises properly. I've got a black belt in Karate and a Silver in Ballroom dancing and even I can't seem to do them without looking like some sort of uncoordinated puppet with the strings all tangled. It usually works better for me if I do the workout in a gym with an instructor but on my own in front of a TV? Nope, can't do it.

They just aren't made for normal people ;-)

Well, that makes me feel a little better, though I'm not sure I count in 'normal people'.

I amuse myself at work sometimes, like this morning:

Random manager: Did you have a good weekend?
Me (in my head): Well, I spent all Saturday in my pyjamas, eating junk food and reading bad gay porn, so it could have been much worse!
Random manager: *head implodes*
