Back to scenic Cardiff, then?

What I really liked about the two episodes I've just watched was the little nods back to Dr Who - the Doctor's severed hand (aka Jack's favourite possession ever, apparently!), time particles (and the use and abuse thereof) as plot device and so on.

And the male/male and female/female kissing didn't hurt either. ;)

Yes, my geeky little heart is satisfied and I'm looking forward to next week. It's going to be really interesting to see what the ratings end up like, and to watch the BBC2 ratings for the Wednesday night re-run. :)

Twas very good, although I'm not warming to Gwen very quickly I have to admit. Time will tell I guess (no pun intended)! But I did love the hand and the other nods, especially Jack saying that if he found the right doctor he might get an answer to why he can't die. Roll on next week!

When did the Dr lose a HAND? And why does Jack have it?

And he can't die? Does he regenerate like the Doctor? Or like Claire on Heroes? What's the deal?

Initial ratings were impressive. Nicked this from a news item:

The debut of 'Doctor Who' spin-off series 'Torchwood' on BBC Three broke all records for drama programming on a digital channel last night.

The first episode of a double-bill, starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, broadcast at 9pm was seen by 2.4m viewers or a 12.7% share of viewing, and the second episode transmitted at 9.45pm was watched by 2.3m viewers or 13.8%, beating all competition across the digital channels last night.
