Working on my outline for NaNoWriMo, I'm reminded why I don't much like outlines for fic - because even the best idea can sound utterly fatuous when laid out like that. Pffft. Sadly, I'm also realistic enough to know that my chances of getting something novel-length done are greatly increased by having an outline of some kind.

Oh, and I guess it's probably time for people to opt in for the NaNoWriMo filter. If you want to read a month's worth of NaNoWriMo-related moaning and whining, punctuated with the occasional progress report, please comment on this post. If your first reaction to that is 'god, why would I?' then don't comment. ;)

I always love to read people's NaNoWriMo filters. Gives me a warm and fuzzy glow of vindication for once more not even thinking about joining up. :-)

And I feel your outline pain.

I wonder how common it is for people to junk their original outline out of frustration at the fatuousness of it all...? ;)

I keep telling myself that everything sounds lame all compressed and rough, and that mine is supposed to be crackfic anyway. ;)

Having done it once (never again) I'm always happy to egg people on and see if they have the same problems I did. Count me in! :)

Yeah, include me in. A NaNo filter sounds like a good idea. I may do the same thing on mine, too.
