Boy, you can tell it's Diwali this week, because the fireworks started about 3 hours ago and have been loud enough at times to make people's car alarms go off...
At least, around here anyway, there tends to be general observance of the law on fireworks so we don't get kept up all night.
Same thing around here. The fireworks have been going off all week - there's about an hour or so between the end of builders banging and the start of fireworks banging. It's like the blitz.
I've discovered the best thing (for me) about Diwali is that one particular office I go to always has a staff lunchtime on the Thursday before Diwali and they always have way more food than they can possibly eat.. I make it my business to visit there on a Thursday afternoon. ;)
