Following a suggestion from [livejournal.com profile] khek, I investigated the local library for audiobooks to accompany me on my drive to and from work every day, with some success to date: so far I've had The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan (which was excellent) and am about a third of the way through American Gods by Neil Gaiman. While I might not join in with the Gaiman-worship some of my associates over here on Livejournal seem to get up to on a regular basis, I have to say the man's mind is very strange and he's clearly got an imagination and then some.

Next up are The Business by Iain Banks and The Time-traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, while I understand there's a version of Beowulf with Seamus Heaney reading his own translation floating around the city somewhere, which I shall doubtless snag at some point...

Cut for those who don't give a damn, really... )

I suppose I really ought to go and see the new HP movie, but I'm much more tempted to spend the afternoon writing then make popcorn and watch A Dangerous Man: Lawrence after Arabia (6.45pm, ITV3) instead. ;)

Meanwhile, if anyone can find me links to The Lovesong of Bastard and Idiot by Predatrix and The Care of Infants by Stella Hobbit (the only two fics on my recs page that I can't find links to, post-Detention meltdown), it would be much appreciated...
