graculus: (It's all Cyc's fault)
Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] lexin as a nice counterpoint to the previous meme - five fictional characters I adore beyond reason:

Illya Kuryakin - snarky, gorgeous and incredibly dangerous, so what's not to love? ;) Also my first crush, aged about 8, so at least I'm consistent in my love of snarky, gorgeous and dangerous types...

Daniel Jackson, in both incarnations and consistently all the way through the tv series, regardless of whether he's geeky or gun-wielding.

Stephen Maturin - not movie!Stephen so much as sometimes misanthropic book!Stephen with his weaknesses and his stupid love for Diana Villiers though she's trampling on his heart and everything about his mixed-up psyche. Mmmm.

Severus Snape, though I think it's fandom!Severus rather than book!Severus because of the way so many talented writers have taken the character JKR wrote and made him much more interesting and three-dimensional. However, I freely admit the robes and spats probably have a lot to do with it (so that unwrapping Snape is like opening a particularly volatile but well-wrapped present!).

Ezra Standish - again with the snark, with just that touch of vulnerability peeking through at times, enough to tantalise (and why oh why don't some people see he's a much more interesting character than MarySue Tanner?) but also self-reliant enough not to crumple at the slightest problem. No, really. *kicks a number of writers*

Honourable mentions: Artemus Gordon,Dan Rydell, Nathan Muckle, Archie Goodwin, Ed Exley, Harry Maybourne, Alex Krycek, Teal'c, Wesley Wyndham-Pryce, Victor Mansfield, Peter Venkman, Ray Kowalski, Remus Lupin, Larry Fleinhardt, The Director, Vislor Turlough and more who I've probably forgotten (or will add later as they come to me...). ;)

Finally saw Batman Begins yesterday, now it's out on dvd. You know, it says something about a movie that one of the villains (Cillian Murphy) was both prettier and a damn sight better at acting than the leading lady (Katie Holmes), who was so wooden she should be modelling clothes in a department store window somewhere.

Also, who told Christian Bale his Batman voice was scary? He sounds like he's still stuck in the well... And speaking of voices, it would have been so much better if Michael Caine could have picked one accent and stuck with it throughout the movie, rather than changing his mind every couple of scenes.
