graculus: (It's all Cyc's fault)
While I've been decidedly underwhelmed by the programming on More4 and the upcoming launch of Sky Three leaves me equally cold, let's hear it for new tv channel ITV4, which starts broadcasting on November 1st.

Among their line-up is an impressive array of nostalgic tv classics, such titles as Department S (who was asking me about that at [livejournal.com profile] connotations?), The Persuaders, The Protectors, Jason King and it looks like I might finally get to see First Wave, which I always seemed to miss!

Well, that's me hooked. ;)

And in other news, the meeting with senior management was a resounding success - considering that when they employed me, they clearly hadn't a clue what it was they actually wanted me to do and I just got on and made it up as I went along, I don't think they have anything to complain about!

Approval was given for my plan to spend the next 3 months at one office and then move to another, so from next week (though it could have been sooner, they were champing at the bit) I'll be moving locations and actually having an office of my own. At least till February anyway, after which I have no idea what the accommodation at the second office is like.

At least this way I can plot the impending training I've been 'volunteered' to help run in relative peace. It's incredibly ironic, in some ways - next week there's official government-run training on the new legislation we're facing (with the notion being that the knowledge given to us will then be 'cascaded down') - one of my remits is to advise on training, if not run it, and I had to virtually throw my toys out of the pram to get onto it. I know that at least four other people who will be going had been surprised I wasn't already included and had pushed on my behalf and then I was only added on as an extra, not in place of someone else who probably doesn't need to go. The joys of bureaucracy, I guess!

Still, it's a minor annoyance in the greater scheme of things, that being that I'm still getting more money than ever for the least work. :)
