While I've been decidedly underwhelmed by the programming on More4 and the upcoming launch of Sky Three leaves me equally cold, let's hear it for new tv channel ITV4, which starts broadcasting on November 1st.

Among their line-up is an impressive array of nostalgic tv classics, such titles as Department S (who was asking me about that at [livejournal.com profile] connotations?), The Persuaders, The Protectors, Jason King and it looks like I might finally get to see First Wave, which I always seemed to miss!

Well, that's me hooked. ;)

If they show MfU or The Champions let me know! (Especially The Champions)

It might have been me asking about Department S, I know I heard you mention it.

Is this a free channel or a pay for one?

Alas, I don't think ITV ever had the rights for UNCLE, but there's a reasonable chance they may show The Champions. If not, I have a bunch of eps on pro tapes I could copy for you... in fact I was just watching the first two episodes last weekend! :P

And I think ITV4 is one of the Freeview channels - I have Sky so I don't know what's what...

It's definitely on Freeview, because I have it.

Nuts, my Freeview box is naff, we ended up unplugging it.

And Digiguide just added The Champions to the ITV4 listings - starting 8th November! :)

I've *got* to see if I get it free on Sky, 'cause my Freeview box is naff and we've unplugged it.

I don't think I've heard of any of those shows, which doesn't surprise me. I thought they'd used up their back catalogue with ITV2 and 3, but apparently not.

So what's on Sky 3 that's so bad? And where are you finding all this info?

It's classic tv from the 70's, the kind of thing they used to show in the afternoons when I was a student. ;)

And Sky 3 is just recycling all the old Sky stuff - Tru Calling, Jake 2.0 etc. Nothing we haven't seen ad nauseum.

As for the info, I love my Digiguide! :P

Doh! I can't believe I didn't think to check digiguide.

Yeah, the sky 3 stuff is a waste of time since it's all the same stuff that's already on the other two sky entertainment channels - what the heck is the point of that? ITV 4 doesn't seem like my thing, either. More4 is showing West Wing, which is okay these days but nothing special, and it looks like it might have other things on that I haven't seen and am actually interested one of these days.

Hmm, how does Dark Skies with Eric Close grab you? ;)

I noticed that on yesterday's update, and started bouncing! I loved that show when it was on, and I'll be very interested to see if I still feel the same way or if its time has passed. Pretty scenery, though. *g*

Definitely feeling the Peter Wyngarde love, since I never really got the chance to see those shows when I was younger... it amuses me greatly to think that everyone thought he was a real man's man (well, I guess he was, just not how they thought!). ;)

Oh Cool!

Can I move in with you for awhile? I have The Persuaders on DVD already but I don't have Department S or Jason King or The Protectors :-)

Pffft! It's only my house I seem to be bent on destroying and keyboards at work ;-)

I loved Department S and Jason King, wish they were showing them here. Maybe I'll splurge at one point and try and get my hands on the DVD :-)
