New job update

Sounds like I'm getting pretty much what I want - the car parking permit is agreed, they're going to offer me a position on the new payscale not the old one (which automatically takes me two points further up without quibbling) and now they just need to confirm how much they're prepared to look at for relocation expenses.

Looking good for early July and putting in my notice in a couple of weeks. :)

Yes, the trip is on. I'm off to (hopefully) sunny Montreal on May 22nd, then down to Ottawa to plague obelix, eat copious amounts of what the colonials call 'eggplant' when all the civilised world knows it as aubergines, then off to MediaWest with her. From there, having hopefully caught up with penfold_x, dmarley, khek and too many others to enumerate, it's back to Ottawa before a couple more days in Montreal and then back to the UK on June 3rd. Phew!
