If one of my new year's resolutions (not that I make them) was to be less facetious in 2005, I already broke it...

Meanwhile, in other news, I'm happily playing with my new copy of Ulead VideoStudio. At the moment I can't quite get it to do what I want it to (convert a ripped mpeg file to avi without jaggy lines on it) but I have confidence in my overall geekiness to get there in the end. It could be, of course, because it was ripped from a R1 dvd to start with. Hmmmm.

E.T.A. Three hours later I appear to have figured out how to get round it, since apparently the problem *is* that it wasn't R2. [edited to remove geeky details of little to no interest to anyone else]

And meanwhile, all my best wishes for a joyous and peaceful 2005 to everyone who reads this! :)

So, I fixed the problem with Ulead VideoStudio, or at least most of it. Unfortunately, in the process of ripping a particular movie (Chow Yun-Fat, come on down!) I've been unable to rip two of the seven sections in a way that VS will recognise as valid files. This is extremely frustrating, particularly since I think the previous problem was due to the dvd being all-region and I figured out how to get around that.

Grrrr.
