Apr. 14th, 2004 11:31 pmI was talking to someone at work who's a big fan of the Lord of the Rings movies and somehow the conversation segued from Harry Potter through into fantasy novels and I happened to mention the Nightrunner books by Lynn Flewelling to her...
Now for anyone who doesn't know them, the main protagonists of that trilogy (both male) end up in a relationship that develops over the course of the books. I mentioned this with approbation, since it's still pretty novel where fantasy books are concerned.
Imagine my surprise when her immediate response was "Oh, well if Lord of the Rings was like that it would have been *very* different!". I stifled a smile. "How so?" I asked. "Well," she continued. "Aragorn would probably have been shagging both Arwen *and* Legolas..."
How can you disagree with logic like that? ;)
And then I also shared some gossip with another co-worker about discovering that a mutual acquaintance and his wife are both naturists. I'm really not looking forward to the next time I happen to bump into him, as I doubt I'll be able to suppress the resultant mental images!
