Senior manager: well, if there's anyone I know who can pull that off, it's you.
Me: It's temporary, though. Just for a couple of weeks.
Senior manager: *laughs* Yes, I've heard that before. This is local government, remember?

My partner workd in LG and I work in health & we have to agree with her/him.
Last year I was transferred to a temporary position for '6-12 weeks' while the organisation had a restructure. It took over a year for them to fix the new permanent appointments!
